“Let’s shine across the   curriculum” week

We   will all be exploring different elements of the curriculum this week. We will   be having discussion groups, researching and producing our best pieces of   work. I wonder who the stars of the curriculum will be for this term? Don’t   forget to have a look at all the curriculum displays across school to find   out.

A   chance to meet your child’s class teacher and discuss the routines,   curriculum learning, well-being systems and procedures in school. You will be   able to ask questions about any areas that you are unsure of and get a feel   for the class vision for this academic year.

Swimming –

All   children in Y2 and Y6 will be swimming during this block. Please note there   is a new swimming schedule, swimming will take place on a Tuesday morning and   lessons will run from September to February half term.

Reading for Pleasure Picnic

Come   and join us for the first picnic of the year. There will be an opportunity to   eat with your child/children and enjoy all the reading activities set up   across school. Do join us if you can…

Nursery Reading Meeting

9:00am and 3:00pm This session is all   about having fun with magical books. During the reading meeting we will be   discussing the importance of language, introducing the tower of language displayed   in the nursery and sharing ideas for listening and attention skills. We have   five great ideas for you to remember when helping your child to enjoy stories   and we will show how print in the environment is important too. Do come along   and enjoy our meeting.

Reading with Rolo – Rolo our reading dog   will be in school to help us with our reading for pleasure. We can’t wait to   read to him!

Phonics Meeting –   9:00-10:00

Nursery – Year 2

This   session will introduce our phonics scheme of work. It will help you to know   how to support your child when they are practising their phonemes, segmenting   and blending at home. An important session… You will be able to join your   child in their phonics group and share their learning.

Come   and sign up for your school family photograph with Miss Potter on Monday 17th   September between 8:00-9:00am and 3:00-4:00pm, if you cannot attend please   phone the school office for a slot.

Springbank Sponsored   Walk.   Come and join us for a walk to raise funds for our school lunch time   activities. 9:00am everyone to   meet in the school hall. The walk will start from the school playground at 9:30am, weather permitting. If not, an alternative date will be   set. Please join us if you can.

Come   and join us at 9:00am for our coffee morning to help us raise funds for a   cause very close to our hearts.

Book Fair – The Book People

To support   reading for pleasure ‘The Book People’ will be bringing a wide selection of   books for you and your child to purchase so that you can enjoy reading them   together at home. The books are all very reasonably priced.

Reading for Pleasure   Breakfast. Food   will be served at 8.45am

We   would like to invite you to our very first reading breakfast of this academic   year where you will be served a continental breakfast and have the   opportunity to enjoy sharing and reading books with your child/children. Mr   Purveur and Mr Lumley will also be bringing stories alive.
